Popular Tshwane Dj - King Austin
King Austin
Que & A
Que1: Who is King Austin?
A: I am a simple and humble guy from the
grounds of Mamelodi, White city born with a desire for music is who I am and
ever since I started understanding my environment and learned that music has
actually become a part of my life that I just cannot deny.
I remember this one moment my brother back then collected
some good music from every genre and played them each on different days. So I got used to loving different sounds of
music and that’s what makes me who I am today.
Que2: When was your starting point with music?
A: 2010 I was no longer a virgin in music as I
went out on many occasions with my buddy Tshepo who I looked up to when it
comes to me being a DJ, at the time a place called Osizweni became my
playground and that’s when I started hanging out with a good friend and a
master in Mamelodi music “Snowdeep”, that’s when Lewis come into my life and
that all just did it for me to become the man I am today. So I became more
interested in music more ever Snowdeep
and Lewis got me more into it week after
week so I fell in love with playing music for a crowd, yeah!
Que3: And what happened with Katlego from then
till now?
A: Katlego became King Austin in the public
ears and eyes, I remember the time I started playing for a large crowd and they
actually liked the set that and then on everything became alive and so much
realistic people closed in, I became well known and everything just took place.
Also I had uncounted some challenges and responsibilities… I mean life is not
what it seems to be with the fame and everything but it has consequences along
the way, with you today creating difficult situations that will come back to
slap you hard enough to wake you up about how life is.
Que4: How long does it take you to make one track?
A: To make a track it takes me A day or a day and a half
depending on the final touches that I have to correct over and over for a
perfect sound but it can also take about 2 days or more if I am working on a
project with other artists.
Que 5: Where do you find your
inspiration to produce a track?
A: Thing about me is that I travel a lot as a
DJ and I get to find inspiration from the places I get to visit and that’s how
I manage to get my head into the zone and able to replenish some good sounds,
it’s really a natural thing I don’t spend time looking to replicate sounds. And
I fill like that’s what many artists these days are doing with music just
replicating sounds and in the end that melody’s life span is very very short.
So produce good music that will live on for a long time span
in the devices’ of my listeners out there. One of my strongest plat in music is that I
find inspiration from the memories I have and I work hard in producing the best
quality sounds so that the listeners can encrypt the message very well and
understand the melody.
Que 6: What are some of the other challenges you
face with the digital music and how producing music has changed over the years?
A: Well there is a massive difference in the
timeline of producing music from 10 years ago to this day and like I said
today’s music life span is not controlled very well, one of our problems as
producers is that we create music that will be durable for only one season of a
single year and then the track is no longer enjoyable to listen to in the next
year or two.
So in my field of being a House DJ I create good music with
meaningful thoughts in it and I blow a torch through your bad mood to create a
good mood that’s what music is all about, if you can’t feel the beat, vocal,
sound, lyrics, effects and mastering of a track in any genre I mean that’s back
music period.
And I mean – it takes time to make quality track and make it
a lasting track for years, it takes inspiration and dedication, mixing
different sounds all that makes it a challenging matter to creating a good
track and usually it takes about 0 – 35sec for it to be difficult but I tell
from then on the pitch just gets into the stream and I cook some good music.
Que 7: How many of your tracks have you released
so far?
A: 9 tracks
Que 8: And how many more tracks or albums can we
expect from King Austin?
A: At the moment I will be composing 5 more
tracks to add to the 9 to make it 14 tracks an album and we will take it from
there step by step cannot confirm yet of the number of albums are to be made,
because there are projects that I will be working on with the likes of
Snowdeep, Lewis and many more.
Que 9: Apart from the music industry, what are
your other career choices that you looking into?
A: Well uhm… currently I am studying IT and it
has been my desire to study IT as my back up career.
Que 10: How would you describe yourself to people?
A: I’m a natural born leader, there’s nothing
fake about me and that’s what I want people to see in me.
Que 11: What’s your message to your family, fans,
friends and people out there who are listening to your music?
A: Learn to appreciate yourself – if in life
you can accept yourself the way you and have self-worth then I assure you that
you will know what you want. And it’s
very important that you explore various options which is healthy and will get
you far in life. Don’t ever lose hope no matter how hard it is.to be your best
And lastly always believe in yourself!

Fashion Hour
LEVITA ENTERTAINMENT
Presents: Fashion hour
Venue: Blackwhole lounge
Mamelodi West is well known as the best hosting events part
of Mamelodi and a few places are well known to be the houses that people show
off their personalities, lifestyle, sizes of their pockets, fashion wear, love,
talents, and the ability to support coming from all parts of Mamelodi and other
regions.
Here is one of the places that came out on a cold evening on
29th of July 17 with an hour of all hours. May writers would say
feast your eyes for a magical moment that’s about to take place but a writer
like me would say “People outside will never see further than what they see
with their own eyes” when Levita Entertainment host a fashion show that had
character, support, full house entertainment, excitement and debonair atmosphere.
A “Fashion hour” that had many young ladies and gentlemen on
their debut in the fashion world where we have seen many talented people in
this modern age. The show had started at 21:30 the crowd were absent in the
first 10min by they did indeed show up in numbers to support the local fashion
show taking place, with the rate of the fun activities that took place
Blackwhole house attendance were buried down to their stomachs with laughter by
the MC comedian, with the Music on the shore people nodded with the hip hop all
the way to their homes after the event, fashion had broken its laws with
combining African style with western.
With: 12 Female models, 9 Male models and 9 Designers!
This was Levita Entertainment’s 2nd Fashion show
and they had gone and done a marvellous job with their rate of growing the
popular community entertainment world, many had a chance of networking,
scouting and liking. It’s believed that the Fashion Hour show has not yet
reached its target in growth coming up with their own system to sponsor local schools
largely to matriculates that cannot afford to designer dress or tailored suits
Levita Entertainment will be visiting schools to offer support and help the
pupils with self-confidence in the Fashion world.

R Matshata Mamabolo high school cries out for help South Africa!
We were visiting a local school around Limpopo, Mankweng township that was burnt down a few months back were the school caught fire along with the furniture, school books and other important documents. The learners took to the streets to raise awareness to the community for a period of 3 months of schooling hours since they have no classes, books nor proper learning fertility.
The school then provided the learners with Mobile classes so that their learning area can have a schooling vibe and learners can concentrate but a learner can not concentrate when a Mobile class is cold during the winter season and hot during the summer time and that was the problem again for the learners.
The learners are behind with school work in terms of assignments, tests and exams are under way to start even worse is that they don't have books to read and write from so a local helping hand came in to help the learners with the necessary things like pads for the young girls, dictionaries, study guide science and Sepedi books for a fitted number of learners.
Sponsorships came from the local team by SAMYF (South African Modelling Youth Forum), Capricorn District Municipality and Icollege is one of the helping hand.

Tshwane Fashion Festival
Bongani
Tambo
Designer:
Retrovintagekolektion
Q & A
Q – What is your goal with Tshwane Fashion Festival?
A – “As you can see and heard from people residing in
Pretoria have been question for a long time about who will take the first step
to show us all that we are serious about building a brand, culture, a group,
fashion wear, food, lifestyle and trends.
Many individuals
go to Johannesburg to try and make it because jozi is where many things are and
taking place, well known places like Maboneng, so it’s also time we work
together as much as a group of Miteale, myself and other local upper level of
hard workers of the Vintage club, that with Tshwane Fashion Festival and Social
Market with also other events, we should be able to attract the Market and
media from across the country.
I
started on the streets with the Vintage club idealists pushing our work and
striving for success also being committed in what we're doing. The
attention we got from viewers was amazing. They were interested in our
movement.”
Q – Why is this not a brand but a culture that you
passionate about?
A – Most people focus on individualism when it comes
to brands, along the way you can lose focus but should people combine their art
work, it becomes magic.
Q – Where is the root of your inspiration?
A – Vintage, I grew up in a family with parents that
showed us the direction of wearing classic wear and with no money to buy all
these fancy expensive clothes, we mostly relied on our grandfathers to give us
their shoes, our grandmothers to give us their shirts and that's how this
became a lifestyle for us.
Q – So it is not based on having class?
A – No! For me when we started the movement, some
people wore colourful shirts while other people wore suites. I have my own
fashion sense so I know what looks good on me and that’s looking classy , so
with the inspiration from what you see on the internet , is what you see here
and they say I am a type of guy that likes suites, there’s no such thing as
"I must wear this colourful shirt" , I wear colourful shirts because
I sell them but not on my daily basis, you cannot wear that each and every day.
It gets to a point where it doesn't look pleasant anymore.
Q – Are suites also tailored for the young
generation?
A – We , as black people , have a history. That
history comes from these type of things and this is how they used to dress up.
Whatever people do now or try to wear , things like sneakers are a
copy from the western culture; it is not what our people used to wear in South
Africa or even across Africa.
We have our own unique style that we used to wear so
now the Modern mode is changing us here and there (fashion wise) and how we
live. It comes to a point where even if you are young, let’s say you are done
with school and stick to these falling pants, it’s not going to get you a job
nor let people take you serious, its unprofessional mostly what we have now is
more like places combined and different cultures so we need to look "on
point" and classy at the same time. You can’t go to a white person looking
for a job with falling pants. Firstly he’s going to look at your appearance and
think "No he’s still a kid, what is he going to tell me?" You
have to speak the way you are dressed, when you walk into a place, people need
to understand that we need to attend to this guy. Even young people need to
dress up; it has to become compulsory to young people in tertiary to start
practicing the same thing.
Q – Yes! But our society is taken by the
western life, with fashion and the way we see things. So how in your own
opinion can help us the community of Tshwane bring back our African style?
A – On the event the main target
is the... First of all I will say it’s not just about the youth bringing back
the old roots, no! Also the government has the big part to play but the thing
is most of the you for example here in Tshwane we don’t have access to the
government, they don’t have access.
In Johannesburg people believe in the youth, they
can invest in something that they don’t even see potential in but because
someone else comes with some papers and connives them that this is how we can
do this and that, they give them a chance. But then on the other hand in
Tshwane we are not going to sit down and point to the government and say “the
government is doing this and that, No!” that’s none of our business, we have to
do our part, let us do something they must see and come back to us and so no
you doing this, what’s happening? How can we help? How can we support? So even
the youth ourselves we have a big part to play. Where by when you look at the
fashion show that we are bringing in, what people can expect is not exactly
what they see on other run was.
Last time we had a fashion show with a guy from
Soweto by the name of Lucky, his collection and brand name is Luck collection.
This guy he show cased garments but then his garnets where not just about
fashion show, he has a concept like telling a story from Egypt to Ghana, to
Nigeria, to Congo, to Tanzania, to Zimbabwe, to Malawi, to Swaziland until the
story ended in South Africa. He had garments looking like old days had Asian
people in Egypt, the kings, pyramids then he was fighting for freedom and it
was all narrated in a sense of fashion and story together.
So what we do is not just inviting different
countries to come abroad then we put it there then it’s a fashion show,
No! We trying to give a story to people to show that this is unique and
at the same time it’s uniting Africa because if you look in United States of
America, this is totally different from what we see on television or fashion
shows that people talk about.
Q – So what you are saying is that we need to
unite as Africans?
A – Look at United States
of America, how many countries are united there? And look at in Africa, how
countries are united here? So we are trying to united us through fashion that’s
the only things that’s left, people can connect and come up with something
better, in terms of the youth.
Q – So is there a platform for the youth from
you guys?
A – Yes there is a
platform that is why we are taking two or five designers and models to Botswana
to show case at the Botswana fashion festival and also it’s not just about
that, rather people come and someone is going to see you perform, SABC will be
there it’s also a platform for you, it’s not also just a platform but your
chance to expose yourself.
Q – Do we have to stand on our own before we can
get help or sponsors?
A – Yes, you are the one with the ideas and you are
the one with those goals, it’s not those days if you are so and so person of
the high company, we started this show with money from our own pockets to put
things together and that attracted sponsors saying how we can help. So if you
go to someone and you find that there is not money doesn’t mean you have to sit
down start thinking that these people are rejecting me, no it’s how it is. When
you have made it on your own that is when you attract other businesses
