Boxing Day
Celebrations aren’t events of colour, race
or disability. We do indeed celebrate on many occasions like birthdays, anniversaries,
findings of treasure, special days and many more but why do we celebrate those
events? The same reason we allow what is called time to rule our lives because
we need time to go forward and keep track of life as we know it otherwise all
our past will be pointless at some point in time.
Day of Goodwill is a commonly worldwide
public holiday celebrated on the 26 December every year. The day after
Christmas, the day of Goodwill is celebrated in the significance of the rename
by South African Government in 1994 to sever ties to a colonial past. The
holiday is also initially created in honour of the time when workers are given a
day of to spend time with their families, thanks giving’s also in order for
that day for most folks. Boxing Day is of great importance to those who
celebrate it as a day to recover from the indulgence of Christmas. This public
holiday is one of the many changes that were implemented after the South
African government and citizens accepted change and good will with as a united
country away with apartheid, forward with united.
Day of Goodwill is the day for giving and
especially to the less fortunate.
In my personal opinion, this significant
day is purely designated to share with those whom you love especially to those
who are in need, to bring joy, love, closure, care, and friendship to the less
fortunate. 26 December 2016 was well celebrated year of this wonderful day.
To give, unite and to celebrate the birth
of the king Lord Jesus Christ not only on Christmas but continuously on good or
bad days!
